Be Better Guys: BejeweledThere are differing opinions as to what is acceptable jewelry on a guy.  Regardless of your opinion, two things are clear: less is more; and always go for the finest quality you can afford.Other than a wedding band, we're not big on rings. Platinum is popular, but white gold or sterling silver are good alternatives. Yellow gold remids us think of old guys on Miami Beach with hairy backs. No rings from college or high school, no military rings, and no organizational rings.

Necklaces are a matter of personal preference. Although neither wears one, they disagree on whether it's OK. David says,"No, not ever." Brian argues for a tasteful flat-link chain, if at all. If you do wear one, it shouldn't be seen, except at the beach or in the bathroom.

David had an earring some years ago...
that he thought would look rugged, hip, and attractive to the ladies. Once, he went to his skatepunk haircut guy and saw an 8-year-old kid with three earrings.  David promptly went home and pitched his.

Earrings are another point of difference for us, too.  David says no, but he had a traumatic experience (see above).  Now Brian has an understated silver hoop, which he takes out for weddings, funerals, and in the presence of his grandmother.  If you do wear one, then we ask that it be only one.  It should be gold, silver or platinum.  Diamonds are a girl's best friend, but a guy's?  Nope.

Any Other Visible Piercings, like nose rings, nose studs, eyebrow rings, lip rings, and tongue studs should probably be reserved for those with a high tolerance for pain and jobs with a flexible definition of office casual.
Brian's Ring Envy:
Brian's brother-in-law, Jeff,  works for the New England Patriots and received a Super Bowl ring. Brian admits a pang of jealousy whenever he sees it, which isn't often. It takes up a full 1/3 of the finger and is more ring than anyone could ever wear comfortably.  Still, what guy wouldn't want to have it?

Be Better Guys: Green Grooming ProductsMost guys probably don’t consider the environment when they shave, but with Al Gore winning a Nobel Prize, that might have to change. Fortunately, there are green products available for men. The Body Shop has made environmentally-responsible products for years. Destination products give you green, good stuff and a geography lesson on the packaging. Another option is California North for face and hair, certified safe for animals or the environment. Look great and save a tree, or something.
