Keeping Your Body Fresh and Clean |

Ok, listen up: generally speaking, women don't like funky body odor or dry, rough skin. They're not the sorts of things that make women want to spend a great deal of time next to you. This is regardless of what kind of shape you're in or what you wear. It’s understandable to be a bit ripe after the gym or a game of hoops, but not over dinner or in a meeting — no one wants to smell that. You don't have to smell like a bouquet of chrysanthimums (you guys remember that great United Way ad from a few years ago with the guy from the Philly Eagles in a classroom being asked to spell "chrysanthimum"? "But she got to spell 'cat'!!!!" Loved that one). Dry skin doesn’t look good or feel good. So, on behalf of women out there, bathe regularly and use lotion. As for what to use, read on: CleansingLet's keep this brief – bathe once a day with soap. We have an acquaintance of ours who bathes every day, but doesn't typically use soap. Guess what? he smells like a barnyard come cocktail hour. Love the guy to death, but damn, the boy stinks. And yet, his wife is hot, so go figure. For the rest of humanity, cleaning yourself is about using soap but it's more than that. As you would with your face, your body accumulates a bunch of dead skin cells that give your skin a hard, rough, and dry feel. The shower is the time to take care of this. So, save us the pleasure of smelling you from across the room.
Use body soap. You can use a bar, body wash, or shower gel, which is basically shampoo for your body.
Use a deodorant with an antiperspirant. Deodorant only gives that fresh smell of baby powder, ocean mist, or whatever fragrance they add. Antiperspirant keeps the sweat away. A deodorant without an antiperspirant is like playing catcher with a mitt but no facemask.
Consider using a loofah You're probably asking, "What the hell is that?" A loofah is an all-natural "scrubbie" that gets rid of dead skin. Use it a couple days a week in the shower on all places that need a good scrub-down, like your elbows, knees, ankles, and on your butt.
"Your butt?!" you ask? Yes, because you can get ingrown hairs on your can, leading to, well, butt-ne (acne on your butt). Nothing like working on your bod, being in good shape, keeping trim, and turning around in the bedroom to show your girl a can filled with butt-ne. Trust us on this one, scrub up.
Body LotionYou need to use lotion on your body every day. If this is a new concept to you, you must be one crusty cat. Why use lotion? Because even the best soaps dry out your skin. Lotions add (we hate this term, but here it is) moisture back to your skin to keep it soft. Women like soft. Once you try a few, you'll recognize the benefits of spending for a few dollars more for glycerin-based lotions (less greasy) and better ingredients, such as aloe, shea butter, and cocoa butter. Only moisturize the parts of your body you'd like touched. |

5 Ways to Be a Better Guy |
It’s not your Momma’s job anymore. Or your girlfriend’s. Make your own damn bed every day. Try making a new mixed drink every month. Throw a party and make the guests bring the booze! Take off your hat when inside (except football Sundays). Especially on a date, Sparky. Put shoe inserts in your shoes. It makes them a lot more comfortable to walk in. Buy a loofah pad and scrub your body once a week. It keeps the body acne at bay. |
