Woody''s Quality Grooming is a grooming line out of California, complete with the surfer logo on the packaging. The whole idea is that "less is more" claiming an old-school approach to grooming for hair, body, and shave. Cheeky names like "Big Stick" for hair styling beeswax and "Love Grenade" for its body spray clearly aim the products at the Axe-crowd. However, Woody''s is about natural (are we say green) ingredients, with things such as aloe vera, Witch Hazel, marine lipids, Galatoarabinan (sugar from the Larch tree -- don''t ask), and hemp being a major component of many of them. Hemp helps retain moisture in skin and hair and is good for reducing irritation and inflammation on skin. The scent of products subtle, earthy and won''t compete with any fragrance you''re wearing.

We were lucky enough to try some of the brand''s shave products -- probably the one indulgence in grooming most guys make. The Three-Way Shave System features an Exfoliating Pre-Shave, a Foaming Shave Gel, and a Post-Shave Rescue Balm.

Exfoliating Pre-Shave: Exfoliating really means you either burn the old layer of skin off our your sand it off. Woody''s uses pineapple extract to peel the dead skin off while gettng your face clean and ready for shaving. The ehmp and Witch Hazel soothe the face just in time for. . .

Foaming Shave Gel: Woody''s is a glycerine-based shave gel that starts out clear but becomes a light white foam. The formula makes for smooth shaving, it''s easy to rinse from multi-blade razors and the mix of aloe, shea butter leave your face feeling good and pretty much nick free.

Post-Shave Rescue: Because shaving is still as damaging a thing that you can do to your skin, it some TLC once it''s all over. The Post-Shave Rescue cools the skin after the razor assault with a mixture of skin-healthy oils (grapeseed and tea tress), marine lipids, and sea whip extract, and while I have no idea what that is, I know Omega-3 fatty acids are beneficial to your overall health and help reduce inflammation. Ultimately, it goes on light, absorbs quickly, and felt good on my face.

All and all, I was impressed with the performance of the Three-Way Shave System. With all the products out there, it''s easy to get lost in translation, but this line uses the same ingredients over and over to ensure a well-balanced and consistent approach to your face.
