Jeff has a simple question that probably dates back to the beginning of men's clothing...or at least rthe 5th grade for us. Q: I see a lot of guys that tuck in their polo shirts or t-shirts. In my opinion, it looks pretty gay. Are those shirts supposed to be tucked in? Is there a certain time or activity where it is appropriate? Jeff
A: To tuck or not to tuck, that's a good question. Untucked is a more relaxed look, but some guys wear their t-shirts or polos so long that they look like dresses. Others like the tucked-in, "I'm cock-diesel" muscled look. Either way, the hem of the t-shirt or polo should fall below your waist, but not below your ass. If you're just hanging out in a pair of jeans, chinos, cargo pants, leave the shirt untucked. If you're at work, you may want to tuck the polo in. And if you're wearing a sport jacket or sweater, tuck that polo or tee in. Any undershirt hanging out below your sweater or sport jacket looks J.V. One more point - David used to tuck in his t-shirt into his jeans. A really cute girl at work saw him on the street over the weekend with his tee tucked in, approached him at the office the following Monday, and said, "So you're a 'tucker'". Now David's family name on one side is Tucker, so he said, proudly, "Yes I am!" She responded, "I think it looks dumb and uptight to tuck your t-shirt into your jeans." David thought about this and reconsidered his stance. He hasn't tucked his tee in since. |
