BBG Reviews: Casa Noble Reposado Tequila

Tequila has gotten a bad rap over the years. It’s been maligned as the instigator of bar fights, nasty hangovers, and lost. . . causes. Yet, tequila has always been a friend to me. I had my introduction from a redneck chef who thought it would be amusing to watch a 19-year old kid get drunk on a Jose Cuervo with a Bass Ale chaser. Funny thing was I liked it, both the Bass and the tequila. Thanks, Chef Rick!

Fast forward a few years and I’d gotten away from tequila as the drink of choice. But in tasting the Casa Noble Reposado, I had a flashback to that original tequila experience. Where the Curevo was for shots, the Casa Noble was for sipping. The smell of the blue agave, with mixes of light sweetness and herbal funk from the distillation process; the warmth of the finish, which holds some of the flavor of the French Oak barrels the reposado is aged in. The pale golden tone of the Casa Noble was much different that the brass of my first tequila, but was tequila, for sure.

Reposados by nature are a bit mellow, since they are rested and aged in wood barrels up to on year. Most regular gold or silver tequila is taken straight from distillation to stainless tanks for 4 weeks to 2 months. That’s the tequila experience most of us had. Reposado tequila at its best is worthy of a sipping drink. The Casa Noble is a nice sipping tequila. It’s smooth, with a touch of smoke, flavorful, complex, and never harsh. Not to mention, it makes a nice impression in the cobalt blue bottle. At @ $50/bottle, it’s not for shots with lime and salt, sip it with some cinnamon and orange slices. Or a couple of cubes and you’re set.

what a coincidence, they sell this at my job. Definitely my favorite Teguila besides Trago.
