Charlize Theron - the star of South Africa
It does seem like I’m just following behind Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive but, what can I say, we are just in violent agreement about Charlize Theron, Esquire’s 2008 winner. Having burst on the scene out of South Africa as a model and coming to Los Angeles barely speaking English (folklore has is it that an agent saw her ranting at a bank in L.A. when she was cashing her very last modeling check and was smitten). She was cast in 2 Days in the Valley back in 1996 and the world found out about what a flaming hottie she is. But here’s where it gets interesting – she wasn’t just stop-time gorgeous.
She was about as versatile and commanding and actress as Meryl Streep in her early days. She won an Academy Award for her thoroughly transforming role in Monster (if that’s your first introduction to Charlize. . . glad you stuck around!), for which she’s also won awards a plenty. Now she’s producing movies. She’s getting ready to take over the world. Let me be your first subject, Charlize!
You may be riding the Sexiest Woman train, but you’re not wrong in your choices. Hard to argue with Charlize’s bonafides, even after Hancock.
